Welcome to DINK: The Musical! That is Dual Income, No Kids to you, Aunt Esther. And the answer to your question is, “That is none of your damn business! But since you asked… here is an entire musical dedicated to explaining why us millennials aren’t reproducing enough.”
DINK: The Musical is a dramedy satire on the state of our world sung through the eyes of three DINK couples. They all have their reasons why they don’t want or have kids but join them as the just try to figure out this adulting thing while also stepping on sharps and crossing bridges. Their story will be told episodically in podcast format so you can enjoy anywhere and anytime you like and don’t have to wait in line or spend hundreds on Broadway show tickets!
It started as a joke. Now it is a protest.
In 2020 I asked myself “Who are the most random group of people I could write a musical about just for laughs?”. Garbage men? Beekeepers? DINKs.
It was supposed to be a comedy musical about the waywardness of couples without kids. Just a silly collection of songs about why some couples might chose not to have kids. But then Roe V. Wade was overturned. And I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to link the choice to not have children and government forced birth.
